Gouda
is a firm cheese much appreciated for its unique almond and cream flavors.
Generally easy to recognize for its wax coating, Gouda is great anytime,
alone or in a variety of recipes. Over time, Gouda develops a tangier,
more full-bodied taste and is delicious on breakfast toast, with a glass
of wine, or at the end of a meal. It also makes a terrific night time
snack. Gouda is wonderful plain, with fruits or raw vegetables, in sandwiches,
in stuffed crepes, and in au gratin soup.
Gouda is a tasty companion for ale beers and dry rosé and fruity red wines. Cheese lovers enjoy the most full-bodied varieties with aged Burgundy wine, port, or sherry.
Bergeron master cheesemakers are continually exploring Gouda’s many possibilities. Over time they have developed a delicious line of fresh-made cheeses and fine cheese varieties that are surface-ripened or aged in a wax coating, offering something for every taste and occasion!
